Ceiling Beams for SouthPark Remodels

In SouthPark, most beam projects are part of a remodel, and that changes how beams should be sized, spaced and installed.

SouthPark is a central-south Charlotte neighborhood in Mecklenburg County, with many established homes that have been updated over the years. Beams added to an existing room have to work with ceilings that may not be perfectly flat or as tall as new construction. We build custom ceiling beams near SouthPark to the ceiling you have, measured in person.

Refined or Rustic

A smooth white oak or walnut beam suits a renovated transitional room; a rough-sawn beam suits a den or a family room with a stone fireplace. See our rustic beam options for the textured look.

A Mantel for the Same Room

Remodels often include the fireplace. We build fireplace mantels for SouthPark remodels in the same wood as the beams, so the update looks complete.

What We Build for SouthPark Homes

SouthPark projects usually combine beams with a refreshed fireplace wall, in refined or rustic wood.

Adding Beams to an Established Home: What to Check

Three things decide how beams work in a remodel: the ceiling height, how flat the ceiling is, and what is above or inside it.

How ceiling height changes the beam plan in a remodel

Questions From SouthPark Homeowners

Quick answers for SouthPark homeowners adding beams to an existing room.

Can beams go on a plaster ceiling?

Often, yes. We check the condition of the plaster and locate the framing at the consultation before recommending how to fasten the beams.

Will beams make my 8-foot ceiling feel low?

Not if they are sized and colored for it. On standard ceilings we use fewer, slimmer beams in lighter tones, or beams in one zone of the room only.

What about my recessed lights?

We plan the beam layout around existing lights, fans and vents. Moving fixtures, if needed, is electrical work for a licensed electrician.

Do you protect the rest of the house?

Yes. We seal off the work area, protect your floors and furniture, and leave your home cleaner than we found it.

Is the consultation free?

Yes. The visit, measurement and written quote are free.
